It Happened That Night!

He was distressed and did not know where to go, who to talk or what to do. So he just grabbed his iPod and ear plugs and went out for a walk. Tonight, he decided to take a long one. Streets were deserted and luckily he found the solitude he was craving for since the afternoon. Quietness and darkness of the night seemed familiar as it would remind him of himself. He was not drunk today. Somehow, he did not want to escape the reality by all what he usually would do. What should he do then? What would set him free of all the worries in the world? Death. That's his dark side coming out now.

Walking and thinking, thinking and walking, the cycle continued for the next two hours that he heard an old man's voice moments after he plugged out the headphones.

'Well, hello, young man'!

He turned around and saw an old man sitting on the bench. His face half visible with the lamp post yellow light and half hidden with the shade of a weeping tree that had its branches drooping downward. He was wearing a light brown overcoat and had his specs rested at the bridge of his nose. Seemed somewhere around 70 yet in an ideal shape for his age.

Next moment he found himself sitting next to a stranger in the midst of a cold night wondering if he decided to sit there because his legs were breaking away or it was the magnetic aura of the old man that made him pause his wandering.

Small talk was not what had happened after that. Philosophical and spiritual conversation made all of his stress not worthy of even talking about. All at once his problems started to look so diminutive in the immensity and vastness of the universe that it actually helped him forgetting about what happened to him in the afternoon.

As the first ray of light broke from the sky, it seemed like all of his gloom got converted in to a dazzling day that he looked forward to becoming a fresh start of his life. Something so phenomenally had changed within him.

Take that call. It must be important said the old man as he heard the sound of vibration in his pocket.

Exhilarated. Overjoyed. He was speechless. After numerous interviews here and there, he finally got a call from the least expected and most desired - The Gates hiring him was like a dream come true.

'Worry less young man! Savanah has always belonged to you and would come back once she would find out you are the same man she fell in love with - Sober and Accomplished' old man said reassuringly and got up to leave.

Happy and thankful, he nodded and thought to make his way to home too. But wait. Hang on. Something struck him. A thought. The reality.

Hey, I never told you anything about Savanah, my drinking habits or me being jobless; he wanted to ask this. However stood agaped on turning around when did not see a trace of him.

Gone. Disappeared. Vanished into thin air.

'Where did he go? Who was he? Why did he happen? Was he there to help me? The call from The Gates in the wee hours of the morning was sure an awkward thing to happen. How did he know I had a fight with Savanah that afternoon and she had left the house. I wasn't drunk. I was completely sober but stressed out. Was I hallucinating out of stress? No. No. No. It was real. It was absolutely real and it happened for a reason. I lost and found myself that night.' two years down the lane he was thinking to himself and felt a chill down his spine.

Honey, you are late for the breakfast! says Savanah from downstairs bringing him back to the present.

Well, hello young lady, she heard the voice of a man as she crossed the road wiping her tears in another part of the world.

Wherever you are and whenever you feel low be assured He is watching you and will come to help you if you spend time with Him!
