Sometimes the End Justifies the Means!
Imran Khan, with his usual and latest abrasive demeanor and speech at Chairing Cross has once again teased his opponents across the board. Not sharing the stage with Mr. Zardari and then slandering the Parliament for its redundancy does not sit well with the flag-bearers of democracy hailing the slogans of political correctness.
It will not be wrong to believe that PML-N and PPP, who have always been subjugated by their own vested interests questioning Khan's heckling is one of their ways to seek safe haven from the storms of accountability.
Nawaz adamantly refusing the allegations despite being presented with the myriad of evidences; when faces the very first blow of the plan of action, steps down from his position but slides up all his efforts into proving the whole decision a part of conspiracy. He not only blatantly defies the sanctity of the decision by the highest Court of the country but also bravely challenges anyone who dares question him.
For anyone who thinks that accountability will serve as the stepping stone for the country's economic progress also despondently believes that putting the people at the fore for their assessment is a Herculean effort. From going on to the streets to taking the institutions on board; when all is said and done, we are still staring blankly at the hollowness of the results.
It may be the might of the PML-N or the pace of a snail of the institutes responsible to trigger the action that can bring things on an even keel — that have not been able to translate the efforts of sit-ins and constant pressure into tangible outcome. Whatsoever is the case, is the reason behind Khan's caustic speech.
I vehemently believe hushing the voice down that is speaking for the masses is harsh on the ears that do not want to listen to it and hence considering it as annoyingly unethical. Therefore, passing a unifying resolution against it in the Parliament seems like the effective way to keep the situation contained by strongly denying what has been said.
In all the fairness, when it hardly takes a few hours to pass a bill that is self-serving and takes years to find a resolution for the case that involves the ruthless killings of innocent in Model Town by the State, anyone in their right senses would question the defunct Parliament, be it in the crass style.
But lest everyone starts to believe the stance put forward by Khan, playing us off against the only voice that is speaking on behalf of almost each of the frustrated Pakistani seems like another move on the chess board by the players who have been playing since long now.
So in this perfect scenario of balance of power skewed ever so slightly more to the people who have not been able to deliver results that revolve around the morality and ethical measures; is Imran beholden by the same people to be a paragon of ethics and values and especially when he is hitting where it hurts the most?
I believe Pakistan and its people have seen a great amount of undelivered promises and is still catching up on the politics of the country that is nothing but phantom and charade for the major portion of it. It would not be entirely wrong to believe that we have surpassed the basic civic requirements chiefly because we are too worn out anticipating the outcomes that we believe could have justified the morals of the society we are living in.
Not only I endorse what Khan has said (no matter how terrible it sounds to your ears) but also expect and hope that it may stir the soul of the Parliament and the conscience of the ones sitting in it because at times, in scenarios like these, the end justifies the means!
